AP Exam Time Table 2027: Complete Dates, Sessions and Timings

Complete AP Exam Time Table 2027: every subject, May 3–14 dates, May 17–21 late testing, US, UAE and India timings, plus portfolio deadlines.

AP Exam Time Table 2027 cover with a study planner, subject books and laptop

THE IDEA TO TAKE WITH YOU

Match each exam’s date and session to your testing location’s May time zone. In 2027, 8 a.m. and noon are not the start times everywhere.

The AP Exam Time Table 2027 runs from May 3–7 and May 10–14, 2027, with late testing scheduled for May 17–21, 2027. This guide lists every scheduled subject, its examination date and session, and the corresponding start times for the lower 48 United States, Hawaii and Washington, D.C.; the UAE; and India. A complete UTC-offset table covers the other testing locations listed by College Board.

The most important change to understand is the clock time. Session 1 and Session 2 do not mean 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. everywhere. Students in Dubai and the rest of the UAE use 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Students in India use 6:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. These are local exam start times, not suggested arrival times.

Schedule checked: 24 September 2026. Dates and session assignments below were checked against the College Board 2027 AP exam schedule. The time conversions follow its 2027 start-time table. Your AP coordinator confirms your reporting time, room, approved arrangements and any subsequent official updates.

AP exams 2027 at a glance

  • First regular exam day: Monday, May 3, 2027.
  • Final regular exam day: Friday, May 14, 2027.
  • Regular testing weeks: May 3–7 and May 10–14.
  • Late-testing week: May 17–21.
  • Scheduled subjects: 39 entries in the regular timetable, including AP Networking for 2026–27 pilot schools only.
  • Portfolio-only assessments: AP 2-D Art and Design, AP 3-D Art and Design, AP Drawing and AP Research are covered separately below.
  • Key submission dates: April 30 for specified performance tasks and world-language references; May 7 for Art and Design portfolios, both at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.

Start by finding your exact course name. AP English Language and Composition is a different examination from AP English Literature and Composition. Physics 1, Physics 2, Physics C: Mechanics and Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism have distinct entries. Calculus AB and Calculus BC appear in the same session; their shared date does not make them interchangeable courses.

Then write down the date, session and local start time together. A calendar entry that says only “AP Chemistry on Thursday” leaves too much room for error. A useful entry includes the full course name, Thursday May 6, Session 2, the clock time for your testing location, and the school’s separate check-in instruction. Keep the coordinator’s contact details beside that record.

Complete regular AP exam timetable: week 1

The first week covers Monday May 3 to Friday May 7, 2027. Each subject has its own row so that similarly named examinations remain easy to distinguish.

How to read the times: “US*” means the lower 48 states, Hawaii and Washington, D.C. Alaska uses different times, listed in the international timing section. The UAE and India columns are local times in those countries. All dates are in May 2027. On a small screen, swipe the table sideways to see every timing column.

Planning around the first week

Look carefully at May 5 if you take more than one physics course: Physics 1 and Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism are both in Session 2. That is a same-session conflict to raise with the coordinator. By contrast, Human Geography and Biology are on the same date, May 3, but occupy different sessions. Both still belong on your personal timetable, with travel, check-in and the interval between sessions planned carefully.

Students taking U.S. Government, European History and Microeconomics should check May 4 before making revision plans. Government is in the earlier session; European History and Microeconomics share the later session. The relevant question is not simply whether two exams fall on the same day. It is whether their session assignments overlap and what your school has arranged.

The AP Networking entry is specifically restricted to 2026–27 pilot schools. Its presence in a published schedule is not evidence that every testing school offers it or that an external candidate can register for it. Ask the participating school about eligibility and its instructions before treating that row as an available examination.

The second week covers Monday May 10 to Friday May 14, 2027. The session rules and local-time meanings are the same as in week 1.

Planning around the second week

Do not leave every second-week subject until the weekend after your first examination. For example, a student sitting Chemistry in week 1 and Calculus in week 2 can keep short calculus practice sessions in the earlier revision schedule. Otherwise, the first exam can consume all available attention and leave a large course untouched until the final days.

May 12 deserves a specific check for students studying both Art History and Computer Science A: both are in Session 2. May 14 has three Session 1 subjects and two Session 2 subjects. If you take Computer Science Principles and Comparative Government, or Latin and Psychology, notify your coordinator about the shared session rather than assuming you can move one independently.

Use the weekend between the regular testing weeks as a recovery and preparation period. Decide beforehand which remaining topics need attention, where your next examination takes place and what equipment you need. A short, clear plan is more useful than arriving at Saturday with a large pile of notes and no order of priority.

AP exam timings by location and time zone

College Board’s 2027 timetable uses the UTC offset at the examination location in May. That matters in places where daylight saving changes the offset. The following is the complete set of offsets in the published start-time table, rather than a list of every time zone in the world.

These are assigned local starting times. Do not take an 8:00 a.m. examination in New York and convert that single instant into every other country’s clock. Find your examination’s session, then use the row for the location where you will actually sit it.

Dubai, Abu Dhabi and other UAE locations

For a test centre using UTC+04:00, Session 1 begins at 11:00 a.m., and Session 2 begins at 3:00 p.m. For example, the regular AP Calculus AB examination on May 10 is in Session 1, so the listed UAE start is 11:00 a.m. AP Biology on May 3 is in Session 2, so its listed UAE start is 3:00 p.m.

Keep check-in separate from the starting time in your phone or paper calendar. If your school asks you to report earlier, that instruction is the one to use for arranging transport. Families should also confirm collection arrangements with the centre instead of guessing a finish time from the gap between sessions.

India

At UTC+05:30, Session 1 starts at 6:30 a.m., and Session 2 starts at 10:30 a.m. This early Session 1 makes transport planning particularly important. A student taking AP Physics C: Mechanics on May 3 should not assume that the traditional 8:00 a.m. description found in an older article applies to their Indian testing centre in 2027.

Check whether the venue is close enough for a reliable early journey. If a family needs overnight accommodation, confirm the actual examination booking and the centre’s reporting details before making travel arrangements. Save those instructions somewhere accessible without relying on an internet connection during the journey.

United States and other international locations

The lower 48 United States, Hawaii and Washington, D.C. retain 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Alaska’s published times are 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. For any other testing location, establish its May offset with your coordinator and use the corresponding row. Do not select an offset merely because it matches your home address if you are travelling to another location for the examination.

When adding the event to a digital calendar, inspect both the event’s time-zone setting and the device’s display setting. A calendar can adjust a timed event automatically after travel. Record the venue’s local time in the event description as well, so the intended reporting arrangement remains clear if the display changes.

Complete AP late-testing timetable 2027

Late testing takes place from Monday May 17 to Friday May 21, 2027. College Board uses alternate examination versions, and the school’s AP coordinator manages the order. A late-testing date is not a second attempt that students can book simply because they want more revision time.

The table includes every subject in the official late-testing schedule. Read the same local-time columns used for the regular timetable; US* again refers to the lower 48 states, Hawaii and Washington, D.C.

Source: College Board 2027 late-testing dates. Your coordinator must confirm your actual late-testing arrangement.

What to do about a timetable clash

Send the coordinator the full names of both examinations, their regular dates and their session assignments. If the conflict involves an IB, Cambridge or other examination, include that examination’s official schedule too. This gives the school something specific to check instead of an informal message saying that May looks busy.

College Board lists two AP exams at the same date and time among circumstances that can qualify for late testing without an additional late-testing fee. Other circumstances and charges depend on the reason and applicable policy. The authoritative reference is the AP late-testing policies and ordering page.

Once the school confirms a revised arrangement, check the new date and session from the beginning. A subject can move from Session 1 in the regular timetable to Session 2 in the late timetable. Physics C: Mechanics is an example: its regular date is May 3 in Session 1, while its late date is May 20 in Session 2. Copying the old clock time to the new date would create another mistake.

Keep a single current personal timetable and mark an old version clearly as superseded. Tell anyone helping with transport which version is current. If an illness or other urgent problem arises near the examination, contact the coordinator promptly and follow their instructions; do not simply attend a later date without a confirmed arrangement.

Portfolio deadlines and subjects without a scheduled written exam

The May examination tables do not tell the whole story for courses with portfolios or performance tasks. A student can have a submission deadline before their scheduled examination. Other courses are assessed without a separately scheduled end-of-course written exam.

The times in this section are Eastern Time (ET) deadlines, unlike the local session times in the examination tables. Treat that distinction carefully when setting reminders outside the United States.

2027 student submission deadlines
Course or assessmentDeadlineWhat the deadline covers
AP 2-D Art and DesignMay 7, 2027, 11:59 p.m. ETThree portfolio components submitted as final
AP 3-D Art and DesignMay 7, 2027, 11:59 p.m. ETThree portfolio components submitted as final

AP world language and culture coursesApril 30, 2027, 11:59 p.m. ETPersonalized Project Reference (PPR) submitted as final

These deadlines come from the 2027 exam schedule’s digital portfolio section. The assessment distinction is explained in College Board’s exam administration overview: Art and Design uses portfolios, while AP Research involves an academic paper, presentation and oral defense instead of an end-of-course written exam.

Submission planning that leaves room to check your work

Add two dates to your personal plan: the official deadline and an earlier personal completion target. The earlier target gives you time to inspect files, confirm that the correct version is selected and ask your teacher about anything unclear. A last-minute upload can expose a simple problem, such as an unreadable document, when there is little time left to fix it.

Do not assume that uploading a file and submitting it as final are the same action. Follow the instructions shown for your course and check the final submission state. Retain the school’s guidance and any submission confirmation available to you. Your teacher may also set earlier classroom checkpoints so that feedback and required school processes can happen before the national deadline.

For language courses, use current instructions for your specific language and assessment. Do not copy a previous year’s project checklist merely because the course title looks unchanged. The 2027 schedule explicitly includes a Personalized Project Reference deadline, so students and teachers need to account for that requirement alongside the examination date.

For Seminar and Computer Science Principles, make the submission and the examination separate calendar events. Finishing the project does not remove the scheduled exam from your plan. For Art and Design and Research, the absence of a timed row should never be interpreted as the absence of an assessment deadline.

Registration and school deadlines to confirm

Knowing when an exam takes place does not establish that a place has been ordered for you. Speak to the AP coordinator at the school where you will test, especially if you are an external or self-study candidate.

College Board’s 2026–27 school-year timeline lists the following administrative milestones:

  • October 2, 2026: preferred examination-ordering deadline.
  • November 13, 2026, 11:59 p.m. ET: final ordering deadline for full-year and fall courses and exam-only sections.
  • January 22, 2027: deadline for submitting AP accommodation requests and supporting documentation through SSD Online.
  • March 12, 2027, 11:59 p.m. ET: deadline for spring-course orders and changes to existing orders.
  • May 4, 2027: late-testing order deadline outside the United States, including U.S. territories and Canada.
  • May 14, 2027: late-testing order deadline in the United States.

These are program and school administration dates. Your school can require student decisions, payment or supporting information earlier. Ask for its actual student deadline instead of treating the latest national date as a personal invitation to wait. If you need accommodations, work with the school’s responsible staff early enough to complete the required process.

To join a course or exam-only section, use the code supplied by the teacher or testing school. College Board explains the account and registration steps in its My AP class-section guide. Check that the course information matches what you intend to take and confirm the school’s examination registration process.

Keep a compact administrative record containing the course, testing school, coordinator, registration status, payment instruction, exam session and reporting time. Avoid keeping sensitive passwords in a shared timetable. The purpose is to make the arrangement easy to confirm, not to put your account details into every document that a family member might use.

Digital AP exams and equipment preparation

The official 2027 exam-mode overview distinguishes fully digital examinations from hybrid digital examinations. In a fully digital examination, responses are entered in Bluebook. In a hybrid examination, students use Bluebook for questions and write free-response answers in examination booklets. Portfolio-only courses follow their own assessment process.

For 2027, world language examinations and Statistics move to fully digital testing, and Music Theory moves to hybrid digital testing. Business with Personal Finance and Cybersecurity are new fully digital examinations. This is another reason an older preparation checklist should not be assumed to describe the current assessment experience.

Preparation should include practising the way you will actually respond. A student who can explain an argument aloud may still need to become comfortable typing a structured answer. A student in a hybrid mathematics or science examination needs practice reading a digital prompt and laying out a legible written response. Use your teacher’s guidance and the current course materials when choosing practice activities.

A practical technology check before exam week

Confirm whether the school supplies a device or expects you to bring an approved one. Ask about Bluebook installation, device compatibility and any school-managed setup. Try the available preview for your subject, including relevant tools, navigation and response controls. Make a short list of issues to resolve with staff rather than attempting unfamiliar device changes on examination morning.

Check that you know the correct College Board account sign-in details. The official exam-day equipment guidance warns that relying on a password saved on the device is insufficient for Bluebook sign-in. Check the approved calculator rules for your examination and the instructions for any required wired headset.

Keep the final equipment list short and specific to your course. Include the approved testing device and charging cable if you are supplying them, permitted writing materials, any required photo identification and the school’s subject-specific items. Do not infer that an electronic accessory is allowed simply because it was useful during revision.

Build your own AP examination and revision calendar

The official timetable is a starting point. A personal calendar connects it to your actual courses, existing commitments and preparation needs. The aim is to remove small uncertainties before the busy weeks arrive, while leaving enough flexibility to respond to the topics that genuinely need more work.

Begin with a one-page overview rather than filling every evening with tasks. Put examination dates and submission deadlines at the top. Add school commitments, travel time and any other examinations. Then identify which subjects need the earliest substantial preparation. A course with an early date and several unresolved topics deserves attention before one with a later date and a smaller remaining workload.

Step 1: Create one complete record per course

Record the exact title, regular exam date, session, local start time, school reporting time, location and any separate submission deadline. Use “awaiting school confirmation” for an unresolved detail rather than making up an answer. If late testing is approved, update the record and retain the school’s confirmation with it.

This small distinction between known and unconfirmed details prevents a draft arrangement from becoming an assumed fact. It also makes questions to your coordinator more focused. Instead of asking for everything again, you can identify the two missing details: perhaps the room and the required arrival time.

Step 2: Turn broad subjects into workable tasks

“Revise Biology” is too broad to make a useful evening plan. A better task names a topic, a practice activity and a way to check the result: complete a set of questions on cellular processes, mark the explanations and rewrite two answers that missed a required connection. For an essay subject, the equivalent might be planning one argument and checking whether the evidence actually supports it.

Keep a short list of recurring errors. Separate a knowledge gap from a rushed reading mistake or an answer that did not address the command word. Each problem calls for a different response. Repeating an entire chapter may not help when the issue is interpreting the question accurately. Our guide to learning from exam mistakes gives a practical structure for that review.

Step 3: Protect later subjects while preparing for early exams

Allocate the larger practice blocks to the next important deadline, but keep later courses active with smaller targeted sessions. A student taking Biology on May 3 and Statistics on May 11 might spend more time on Biology initially while still reviewing a few Statistics weaknesses each week. The exact balance should follow current readiness, not a rule that every course receives identical hours.

After an examination, deliberately remove it from the active revision list and move attention to the next task. Keep any personal reflection general and respect the exam-content rules. Avoid letting lengthy post-exam speculation absorb the period that you had reserved for the next subject.

Step 4: Plan realistic practice and review blocks

Build time for checking work into each practice session. Completing questions without reviewing the answers can make a calendar look full while leaving the same misunderstandings in place. A useful session can be modest: a focused attempt, a careful check and a short note explaining what to do differently next time.

If you have a long weekend practice block, decide its stopping point in advance. For example, complete one selected section, review it and identify three priorities. Avoid an open-ended promise to continue until an entire course feels finished. The weekly study-plan guide can help you translate that approach into a manageable school-week routine.

Step 5: Leave space for recovery and unexpected work

An effective plan should survive an ordinary difficult day. Leave some unscheduled time so that a delayed assignment, a transport problem or a topic that takes longer than expected does not force you to rewrite the entire week. If a session is missed, choose the next most useful task rather than doubling every later session automatically.

The final evening before an examination is a good time to check logistics, revisit a concise list of familiar problem areas and prepare equipment. Decide on those tasks in advance. Otherwise, anxiety can turn the evening into an unstructured search for new resources, even when your remaining need is simply to consolidate what you have already practised.

Planning for two exams on one day

Two examinations on one date can create either a scheduling conflict or a demanding day, depending on the sessions. Treat those situations separately. If both occupy the same session, contact the coordinator. If they occupy different sessions, ask the school how the day will run and whether any approved arrangements affect your schedule.

Build preparation for both subjects before that day. Do not plan to learn a major unit between the two examinations. The available interval may include administration, moving rooms and a permitted break rather than a long revision window. Keep transport arrangements compatible with the full day instead of booking a journey based only on the first examination.

Prepare a simple course-by-course equipment checklist the previous day. Different examinations can require different permitted materials, so it helps to know exactly what belongs with each session. Follow the centre’s rules about storage and breaks. Food, phones, notes and other personal items are governed by examination rules, not by what would be convenient during an ordinary school day.

If you are also taking another qualification, put both timetables in the same planning document. Two separate calendars can each look manageable while hiding a conflict. Use official schedules for both, then ask the relevant school staff to confirm the arrangement before you change any examination booking or travel plan.

Final week and exam-day checklist

Use this checklist to finish the practical work that the timetable starts. It is a preparation aid; your school’s specific examination instructions remain the directions to follow.

  1. Confirm the subject and session. Compare your personal record with the coordinator’s latest information. Check similarly named courses especially carefully.
  2. Confirm the local clock time. Use the testing venue’s May time zone, then note the separate reporting time.
  3. Check the route to the venue. Know the building or entrance you need, the expected journey and the contact procedure if a problem occurs.
  4. Check registration and arrangements. Resolve an uncertain exam order, approved accommodation or late-testing request before the examination day.
  5. Prepare the correct equipment. Use the school’s device instructions and the current official permitted-items list for your course.
  6. Review submission status. For a course with a portfolio or performance task, verify the required final submission separately from the exam booking.
  7. Choose a short final review. Revisit familiar high-priority errors and methods rather than assembling a new collection of resources.
  8. Tell the right people the plan. Share the confirmed travel and collection details with whoever needs them, while keeping account credentials private.

Do not calculate a guaranteed finishing time simply by adding a remembered course duration to the published starting time. Check-in, instructions, breaks, approved accommodations and school administration can affect when a student is ready to leave. Ask the centre what families should expect before arranging a tightly timed onward journey.

Keep the official schedule links available, but use the coordinator’s confirmed instructions as your working exam-day record. If an online article and a school message appear inconsistent, resolve the discrepancy before the day. Provide the exact course, date, session and location when asking for clarification; those details usually reveal whether the issue is a time zone, late-testing assignment or a different examination.

Frequently asked questions about the AP timetable

When do AP exams start and finish in 2027?

Regular AP examinations run from Monday May 3 to Friday May 14, across the two school weeks May 3–7 and May 10–14. The separate late-testing schedule runs from May 17–21. Portfolio deadlines can occur before or during the regular testing period, so include them in your plan even if they do not appear as timed exams.

Are all AP exams at 8 a.m. and noon local time?

No. Those times apply to the lower 48 United States, Hawaii and Washington, D.C., but 2027 uses location-specific session starts. The UAE uses 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.; India uses 6:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.; Alaska uses 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. Consult the complete UTC-offset table and your coordinator.

Is 12 p.m. noon or midnight?

In the timetable, 12:00 p.m. means noon. Midnight is 12:00 a.m. For a deadline written as 11:59 p.m., check both the date and the stated time zone. Do not substitute your own local midnight for an Eastern Time portfolio deadline.

What is the AP Calculus AB and BC exam date?

Both AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC are scheduled for Monday May 10, 2027, Session 1. That means 8 a.m. in the US* locations defined above, 11 a.m. in the UAE and 6:30 a.m. in India. Confirm your correct course registration; the two names describe separate examinations.

When are AP Biology, Chemistry and Physics in 2027?

Biology is May 3, Session 2, and Chemistry is May 6, Session 2. Physics C: Mechanics is May 3, Session 1. Physics 1 and Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism are May 5, Session 2. Physics 2 is May 6, Session 1. The regular timetable gives a separate row and local times for each.

What if two of my AP exams are in the same session?

Contact your AP coordinator with both full course names and their session details. A school-managed late-testing arrangement may be necessary. Do not select a different date or assume that a normal exam can be started early to fit both. Use the official late-testing schedule only after your arrangement has been confirmed.

Does AP Research have a May examination date?

AP Research does not have an end-of-course written exam. Its assessment includes a research paper, presentation and oral defense. The published student performance-task submission deadline is April 30, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Your teacher will explain the course’s earlier milestones and presentation arrangements.

Do AP Art and Design students follow the timed exam schedule?

AP 2-D Art and Design, AP 3-D Art and Design and AP Drawing are portfolio assessments. Their listed final submission deadline is May 7, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Use the portfolio instructions for your specific course and check that every required component is submitted in the correct final state.

Can I register for an AP exam through this article?

No. Registration and examination orders are handled through your testing school and College Board’s processes. OnlyPrepy provides study guidance and tutoring support. If you are arranging an external examination, confirm availability, eligibility, deadlines and payment directly with the school or authorised testing provider.

How can I get help preparing after making my timetable?

Bring your course names, confirmed dates and a few recent examples of difficult work to a discussion about support. That makes it easier to identify useful practice instead of starting with a vague request to revise everything. Read about OnlyPrepy AP tutoring or share your learning needs to discuss the subjects and topics you want help with.
